Frequently asked questions
What is powder coating?
Powder coating has been used in many paint applications
for the past 20 years or so. The finish is far more durable than
standard wet paint. Once applied to the substrate in powder form
it is cured in an oven for a set period of time and temperature.
Do you remove the existing coating from the wheel?
Yes we do. Once we have removed the tyre, weights,
valve and centre cap, the first part of the process is to remove
the existing coating from the alloy wheel. This we do by using chemical
strip tanks and fine grit blasting. The alloy wheel is completely
stripped back to its bare casting prior to coating.
Do you remove unsightly kerb damage: scrapes, scuffs and
scratches?
All kerb damage is removed by hand or using our
automated machine depending on its severity.
My wheels are corroded, blistered or oxidised
All corrosion is removed from the alloy during the
stripping stages and once recoated and lacquered will be completely
sealed to prevent further oxidisation. However, due to the oxidisation
there will be some visual evidence of where the corrosion was.
Will you fit new tyres to my refurbished wheels?
Although we do not supply or sell new tyres, you
may bring your own along with you, which we will fit. We will ask
that you take your old tyres away with you.
How long is the process?
Customers can bring loose wheels throughout the
day and they will be ready 24 hours later. Alternatively, we offer
a drive in service, on a pre-booked arrangement. If you drop your
car off at 8.30am it will be ready to collect at 5.30pm. We do not
store vehicles overnight.
Can I courier the wheels to you?
Yes you can, but make sure that after the tyres
are removed you securely package each wheel separately.
Payment
Full payment must be made on collection. If using
a courier then payment must be made prior to commencing the work.
We accept cash, cheques or card payments.
Do you repair cracked or dented alloys?
Yes, we specialise in repair and refinishing.
